It depicts a white, gray, black, and red dragon grasping a pearl, symbolizing power, wisdom, protection, and balance in Japanese culture. Kiryu's tattoo covers most of his back and ends just above his thighs. He also has a handsome face, with brown eyes that are complimented with the phrase "Beautiful eyes" by Joji and Shintaro Kazama. In Like a Dragon 8, his hair has been drastically altered into a messy silver-colored bowl cut.
From Yakuza/ Yakuza Kiwami to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's hair is longer and put into a messily slicked back style, and his facial hair has grown into a pure goatee. Kiryu's hair in Yakuza 0 is very short, being slightly longer at the crown and featuring his trademark sideburns. He has more upper body mass than lower, which can most likely be attributed to his frequent use of heavy weapons.
